S. Lay has held senior management positions since
1982 with such companies as Lowestfare.com-Chief Product
Officer, Western Airlines-Vice President-Marketing
Programs, Hughes Aircraft-Director Business Development,
California Air Shuttle-President, GES Exposition Services-Vice President Exhibitor
Sales and is founder of Symtrek Partners, LLC
which provides Wine-Country-Centric services to executive clients.
Although
some of his experience is within the transportation
business, most all of that experience has related
to technology applications such as automated ticketing
systems, automated distribution programs (Worldspan),
e-commerce, and call centers.
Mr.
Lay’s start-up experience has been in researching
and developing business plans for airlines, technology
businesses, e-commerce initiatives and service industries.
Within these sectors Mr. Lay was directly responsible
for the launch of California Air Shuttle, a regional
commuter carrier operating in California and Nevada,
and Lowestfare.com, a $425 million on-line company.
In addition, he has been selected for leadership roles
in start-up divisions such as charters, commercial
avionics and on-line hotel booking systems.
In 1986 Mr. Lay arranged for an IPO
for the initial funding of $10 million and capital
leases of $12 million. In 1999 Mr. Lay was part of
the management team that was in registration for a
$600 million IPO in the Internet space.
Having developed
two start-up companies since 2002, Mr. Lay is focused on Provix,
LLC and Symtrek Partners, LLC (www.symtrekpartners.com) which is a
high-end corporate meeting planning company providing exclusive services
in California’s Wine Country. The focus is exclusively on small luxury
corporate off-site meetings, board of director meetings, product launches
and team building exercises.
Mr.
Lay has also spent 25 years as a Public Affairs Officer
in the Naval Reserves attaining the rank of Captain.
